Christmas was very fun this year, I'm a little sad to see it go. I love to decorate my house for the season. I used to do traditional red and green but this year decided to use my favorite colors red and pale blue/aqua and of course glittery snowmen. It's very cheerful to me. So here's just a few of my favorite things.

Cookie plates and cookie jar.
I love my red Kitchen Aid! It was a Christmas present from Ash a few years ago.

Hot chocolate station, we've consumed at least a couple gallons this month.
New bowls from dear friends.
A star I bought for $4.00 a few years ago that I spray painted white and added glitter to.
Special ornaments.
Our next door neighbor Holly, at our first home gave me this ornament for Prestin's first Christmas. I love it very much.

This one is from my sister, also very special to me.
Our first Christmas together as a married couple.
My friend Vil had this made for us last year.
The snowman is not actually an ornament but I stuck him in there anyways as well as a plate that looks like a peppermint candy and these pipe cleaner candycanes that Ainsley and Madi made at church that I arranged so that they make a heart.

No special reason I just really like this little guy.
And my new favorite, a little chocolate cake.
I love to decorate our Christmas tree, if I could I'd have one in every room of the house but I don't know how Mr. Boo would feel about that. The tree needs a little more blue but is still very pretty to me.

We've never had enough stockings for our family so this year I bought these for .99 cents each. They worked out alright but I would like to try and make ones for each member of the family for next year. Add that to my to-do-list.

And of course my advent calendar I made last year.
Love you all and hope you have a very Happy New Year!

Movie reviews

It was 13 degrees this morning when I was taking the kids to school, I think that's all I need to say about that.
So I forgot to tell you all how the movie was, unfortunately it wasn't very good. I've read all the books and the movies never measure up. The actors aren't all that great(sorry to all those die hard fans). I went with about 7 or 8 girls who've all read the books, we laughed throughout the movie at all the bad acting. And what's up with some of the actors wearing wigs, and bad ones at that! Even though we felt it wasn't all that great we all agreed when "Eclipse" comes out we will still go and see it. I know, it doesn't make any sense.:) So anyways that is one of the few movies that I've seen in the theaters in a long time. Lately we've been Red boxing it, hey you can't go wrong for just a buck. Here's some of the most recent that I've seen.

Hilarious

So sweet, definitely one of my all time favorites.

I just got done with this one and I loved it!

These last two movies are really sweet, what I loved most about these two movies is the relationships between married couples. Carl and Ellie in "Up" and Julia(Meryl Streep) and Paul, their marriages aren't fancy or overly romantic(which is just not realistic or practical but occasionally is nice). There is a mutual respect and equal partnership, and it's so sweet to see how much the husbands love and adore their wives and vice versa. I love seeing love portrayed like this even if one is a cartoon.lol The next movie on my list is the new Harry Potter! These movies however do a great job at sticking to the books and I am literally going crazy waiting to see it.

Princess of the Potty

She'll hate me later for putting these pics up.

Well I'm all done potty training Ainsley. She's actually been done for awhile and has been doing great. She caught on quickly and is very proud of herself as am I. She was sick today, while we were waiting for the kids to get out of school she threw up all over herself. Luckily it was mainly contained to her and her car seat. Let me tell you what a joy it is to clean up a car seat full of puke. I have noticed that this blog is full of my kids bodily fluids, sorry:) So any who Sadie is quite the chunk and I know I need to put more pics of her on here. I'll have to do a whole Sadie post next time. She is over 15 lbs. now and has two teeth on the bottom. She is rapidly losing all her hair, I knew she would. We are all doing well, and despite today's little mishap we are all in good health. It's supposed to snow on Saturday, yuck! But the kids are excited, I think I'm going to hibernate this winter. We've been getting ready for Christmas, we decorated the tree and that's pretty much all the decorating we've done this year. We had a very nice Thanksgiving, we went to our Pastor's house Thanksgiving day and then to Connie and Shane's the day after. All in all a very nice Thanksgiving shared with people we love and who love us back. I thank God that He provided such wonderful friends for us here that have turned into family. I love how He takes care of all the details, we just need to sit back and wait on Him.

Sorry I haven't been around lately, I'm in the middle of potty training Ainsley. It's going well, but it is definitely not my favorite thing to do that's for sure. Anyone going to see New Moon this week? I know this gal is(jumping up and down and squealing) and I can't wait! I know a 29 year old mom of six is not supposed to get this excited over a teen romance book about vampires but I can't help it. See ya on Wednesday Alyssa!

More funny things

So I had just got home from the store and was having the kids help me put stuff away, when Madi came over to tattle on Ainsley for getting into something she shouldn't have. This would be my new foundation that I just bought, making a point to capture moments in the midst of anger is definitely a good thing. It makes you see the humor in situations instead of focusing on the bad and calms me down quicker. I'll have to keep that camera around my neck for it to work effectively all day(sigh);) And this next pic, Ash had found outside on the swingset a couple months ago.
This picture makes it hard to read, these are the official Lava Monster Rules written by Prestin Farley.

Lova Monster stay on the gass(grass)evryone else runs away sit on a swing clim on the later(latter)to stay safe if the Lova Monster tags you your it.

Too funny! We got free movie tickets to go see "Paranormal Activity" tonight. I'm so excited, I love scary movies! I'll let you know how it was.

Decorations for Fall

Here's just some stuff that I've done around the house for Fall.
Notice the little black frame and the silver frame. I got them at a garage sale, the black one was a $1.00 and the silver one was only .25 cents. The little roll top desk they're on was only $15.00 and I'm in the process of painting it black. I love garage sales!!

And yes the white frame on top of the cabinet still has the original picture in it from when I bought it. I actually have a couple frames like that, and I get made fun of often.

Here's my pumpkins!!
A little hard to see, a cool looking spiderweb out back.

Funny things

So I'm doing this more for myself than anything, I want to record these memories before I forget. But I thought you might enjoy these funny things my kids say as well. This conversation happened last week, we had been talking about a friend of ours who had some chickens that were killed by a coyote(very sad).

Madi: I don't want to go over there because the wolves(Madi calls coyotes wolves) might eat me because we're made out of meat!

Avery: We're not made out of meat, that's silly Madi we're made out of chicken!

The same day Madi was talking about Heaven and Hell.

Madi: I don't want to go to Hell Mommy! When I die am I gonna go to Heaven?

Mommy: Yes

Madi: (Long pause while contemplating) Mommy I don't want to go to Heaven I want to go to Chuck E. Cheese!

WARNING! GRAFFIC CONTENT

So in the eight years that I have been a mother I thought I had experienced it all by way of bodily fluids. I was soooooooooooo wrong........

Yes that is poop sprayed all over my walls and floor! Sweet little Sadie had not gone number 2 since Friday, so last night I gave her half a dropper full of prune juice to get things flowing. As I held her, cradling her little bum in my hand she let out a huge grunt and poop squirted out the side of her diaper. And I'm talking full force super soaker blast! This girl has given me a run for my money regarding poop stories. It's all cleaned up now and things smell fresh again. Ahh, never a dull moment in this house. And just now Ainsley has informed me that she is stinky, yay:(

Alyssa's Ultimate Fantasy

I meant to post this a while ago, but a bunch of excuses later here I am now just writing about it. My friend Alyssa's birthday was a few weeks ago, she has this charming obsession with tissue paper. Hey we all have one obsession or another(I have quite a few). At parties or showers of any sort she will neatly fold all the tissue paper from each persons gift so they can reuse it later. My friend Lyndie came up with an awesome idea to surprise her on her birthday. So me, Lyndie and our friend Jennifer gathered all the tissue paper we had to do this...
Sorry Alyssa I had to
You know you're loved when your friends go to so much trouble to fill your car full of tissue paper and set off two car alarms in the church parking lot during service. We love you Alyssa and hope your birthday was special!

Avery's Birthday

So our sweet little girl turned five on Monday. She wanted her haircut, so on her birthday I took her to get it done. I searched around for places that had prices for kid's cuts and after calling a few places found that I wasn't going to pay any less than $25.00. I'm sorry but for a child's haircut that just seemed outrageous to me so I found this cosmetology school that only charged five bucks! I was so excited(hey with six kids these types of things excite you) so we loaded up and went down there. It turned out so adorable and she absolutely loves it. She might be getting a slight ego as well, because she constantly wants to look in the mirror and she says she looks soooo cute! But all in all we'll let her have her moment to shine and then nip it in the butt if it gets out of hand, lol. So anyways she's super excited to be five, she's been telling everyone including Sadie.

She is loving Pre-K, she is learning a lot. For her birthday she got to bring in a special treat(cupcakes of course) and she was the "star of the day" which means you get to bring something for show and tell. My friend Kayla who works at the preschool snapped these pics of her(thanks Kayla).
Avery and her teacher Miss Amy

We just had a family party at home and had a pretty little cake for her.A sweet little party for a sweet little girl, Happy Birthday Baby doll! We love you!
